my shoes.

I have a pretty cute collection of shoes in my shop right now and they are totally in the spotlight this morning!

These beauties popped up in the loveliest Etsy Finds article today. If you haven't seen the Storque today you should look! It's one of the prettiest ones I've seen and I just had the added bonus of being featured.
The rest of these sweet shoes have just had a lot of lookie-loos this morning. And I don't mind at all! Go ahead and take a look!
It is true, I have some really great shoes right now. Sadly they are all too small for my size 9 feet. Lucky for you, I have to sell them!
I better get listing shoes! Today seems like the day for it!

drowning in a sea of zucchini.

A couple weeks ago I made a yummy savory zucchini bread, but that only put a couple zucchini to use..... We have a dozen coming up everyday. I love 'em and I hate to see them go to waste.

So what I need from you is suggestions, recipes, and links to blogs with inspiring and delicious ideas for my abundance of zucchini.

I plan to start here......
I think I'd like to make a frittata, a sweet and a savory bread, maybe a zucchini chocolate cake, and some zucchini cake donuts.
You guessed it! I also collect old recipe boxes and cookbooks. That box is my newest! My cousin Sara (you might know her as Sadie Olive) picked it up for me recently. Yes, I'm the one in the family with the obsession for mid century kitsch!

Please comment with links to your recipes suggestions. Seriously even your own recipe blogs! I promise to let you know what I make.

please forgive me.

I was starting to list this cute little romper and realized it might fit me. So I tried it on to get a better idea of the size..... and well..... it's not getting listed now.

Lets be honest, I haven't taken it off since I put it on. It has this built in bra thing, and it actually works!
It had not crossed my mind earlier that I needed to add this romper to my wardrobe. Sometimes you really just have to try things on. Usually when I help people shop for clothes, I make them try things on that they would never pick out. Try it next time you are clothes shopping!

I have no plans for changing out of this anytime soon. However, I really wish I had some yellow sandals! If I get a picture of myself in it today, I'll add it for you to see.

There are new summer things in the shop. Be sure to check them out!

my turn.

Have you heard about the Notebook Journey?

If you haven't heard about it, well I'm going to fill you in!

A friend of mine, Lauren from SomeWhineWithCheese, had this brilliant idea to put together a notebook and find contributors from all over the world to fill its pages. The concept is quite simple and the possibilities are endless.
The notebook arrived at my house looking pretty cute. I was the 8th person to receive it, and it has already been all over the US and out of the country once! This little book is quite the jet setter! For some reason I thought that once it was in my hands I would be inspired. No such luck....... so what I did was bring it with me on my little weekend get away. With 6 hours to drive in each direction, I would surely think of something!
It took me a while, but finally I came up with something! I didn't want to be too wordy, but I needed to leave my mark. How 'bout some simple wisdom to live by?
Next stop, Boston, MA or Wellesley to be exact! I wish I could hand deliver the book. I'm a little jealous that it gets to go visit my BFF and I don't.
Goodbye notebook! Thanks for letting me be a part of your journey! It's been nice having you in Orange County.

If you are interested in participating, I believe there are currently 3 spots left. So hurry! Because the book is just about full. Hop on over to http://thenotebookjourney.blogspot.com/.

emergency landing.

My friend Erik is certainly a talented pilot. He was truly put to the test last night!

So glad he's safe. I had to share!

tide pools.

Life in Orange County does not suck!

I have a secret (or not so secret) spot I like to go to. It's a small beach with protected tide pools. The most people I've ever seen there are about 10 other groups (usually there are no more than 10 people total). My son and I have seen all kinds of amazing and fascinating things there. We even saw a whale spouting once!

This photo is over a year old, but still one of my favorites!
This one was taken yesterday.
Here's a picture of D and his best buddy R.
Usually we pick up trash as we leave the beach. That's what they've got in their buckets. Lots of people like to visit our beaches, but don't respect them like we do. In order to give back to this coveted place and to the creatures who reside there, we pick up bits of trash. I think it's a really important lesson for me to teach my son, in hopes that he regards the ocean with as much respect as I do.
Urchins
Sea Slug
Anemones
I could spend countless hours staring into these miraculous pools! It's our secret spot, so I can't tell you where it is. However, if you are planning a trip to OC and you ask really nicely, I might just tell you.

are you ready for summer?

Awesome summer pieces, coming to the store!

I need to get listing, because I have a whole bunch of really great things for summer. As a matter of fact, Etsy thought so too! This morning a really fun, fluffy, summer perfect, petticoat type skirt of mine was featured in Etsy Finds.
Etsy Finds is part of Etsy's Blog, which is called the Storque. To the best of my knowledge I have never been featured in the Storque before..... but then again, I just recently started subscribing to the emails. So who knows?!

Check out the shop if you get a minute. I'm stocking it with new things today. Yay!

feeling old.

Do you ever wake up in the morning and think to yourself, 'holy crap, the last 10 years have just flown by!'

I think that sometimes.

This morning I woke up smelling of stale perfume and wearing last night's makeup. I know, I know..... sounds hot, huh?

Going to shows on weeknights (and weekends) and constant hand stamps, or the always cool sharpy Xs, on the backs of my hands, was the norm 10 years ago. So when I woke up this morning and spotted the stamp on my hand, I felt old!
D and I went to see his dad play a show last night. I've been told it would be his last show with Hollowell. For as long as I've known my son's dad, he has been in a band with those guys. Hollowell's not breaking up, but it might be the last time D sees his dad play a show. So we had to go.
There's little doubt in my mind that my son will also play in a band at some point. I'm pretty sure the influence around him is too great for him to resist. Most of the males in his life, whom he looks up to, are musicians.
I couldn't resist giving my friends (who are like family) a little shout out. Good show last night boys! You always make me proud.

Oh and did I mention, as I quickly approach my last year in my 20s, I'm feeling OLD!
