fresh.

Why not grow my own herbs?

If you knew what kind of vegetable garden we have, you'd be astonished to find out that the only herb we grow is a wild patch of oregano.

Last year I bought one of those pre-planted herb gardens and couldn't manage to keep it alive. It's really sad considering how much I love to use fresh herbs in my cooking. This year's effort is going to have an entirely different outcome!
We started with our own soil blend recipe! First we threw in one big shovel full of our own native backyard clay dirt, a little packaged potting soil, some spent coffee grinds, a heaping/dripping scoop of worm castings, and a healthy glass of worm tea. Mmm Mmm!

I picked up a couple plants last week too, they got planted in the long vintage tool tote. When the seedlings start coming up, I'll have to decide what other herbs will go in this box. The plants are stevia, sky blue lavender, and hot and spicy oregano.
I'm pretty sure those labels, handwritten by D, couldn't be any cuter! Hopefully in a week or two we will start to see seedlings of thyme, italian parsley, cinnamon and lemon-lime basil, anise, dill, rosemary, garlic chives, and lady lavender!
And now we wait............
